CRC Group is the corporate brand, not the placement route
CRC announced its current structure on March 3, 2025: the TIH name would be replaced by CRC Group as the corporate brand, with Specialty + Benefits and Underwriting as its two divisions. The announcement places wholesale property and casualty operations under the CRC Specialty brand.
Within CRC Specialty, the current service page presents Specialty Brokerage separately from Small Business + Binding and Middle Market. For an open-market placement, the comparison that matters is therefore Nomos versus CRC Specialty Brokerage, not Nomos versus every business carrying the CRC name.
CRC Specialty starts with range
CRC Specialty publishes a broad set of P+C product categories and industry practices. That range matters once you’ve identified a CRC practice that lines up with the risk, or you already work well with a producer who knows the account.
The category list is the start of the conversation, not the answer. It doesn’t tell you current appetite, capacity or which CRC service will actually handle the file. The producer you’re working with should be able to turn that platform range into a concrete plan for your submission.
CRC Tapco is a different route
CRC Group identifies CRC Tapco as a separate E&S MGA. Its binding authority, quote workflow, response-time statements, carrier relationships and servicing procedures belong to CRC Tapco’s supported business; none should be transferred to CRC Specialty Brokerage because the two share the CRC corporate brand.
If the account may fit that MGA route instead, read the Nomos vs. CRC Tapco comparison. This page stays with open-market brokerage.
Nomos starts with the submission
Nomos describes its brokerage as one person reviewing your account directly, for retail agents. Its homepage says you can send the file you have, submissions get matched internally, and status gets reported even when the appetite answer is no. That’s a fit if that intake and communication process is what you value.
None of that proves Nomos is faster on every account, has access to a carrier you need, or can place every class. Compare what each firm can actually back up for this risk: current appetite from Nomos, or the applicable practice, people and placement approach from CRC Specialty.
Appointment answers a different question
CRC’s 2024 agency appointment packet describes an approval process and brokerage agreement. It is evidence about appointment requirements, not the authority for CRC’s post-rebrand corporate structure and not proof of appetite, market access, quote terms or binding authority for a submission. The same account-level boundary applies to Nomos. Get the live facts before authorizing either wholesaler to approach a market.
